Wanted: no reach stem? Fixie freestyle, BMX, Enduro, Jump? 1 & 1/8" steerer, 25.4 clamp preferred I guess

Does anyone know of / have a stem that's entirely centred over the steerer, or if not with minimal reach (think Enduro or jump style stems might be commonly like that), like 50cm or less?

I remember @superted having a totally on-top-of-the-steerer one back in the golden days of the forum, possibly rode it drunk at the after BFF forum party at The Lamb. Phew that was a long time ago.

I’ve thought about making one but it’d be just for a laugh and it seems like it’d actually be quite complex to make it so that you could preload the bearings and everything so…

I do have a plan to make a stem where I’ll have to chamfer the top of the steerer to fit it as the handlebar clamp will intersect the steerer clamp if you see what I mean?

This got me and a mate talking about them old control tech stems and I found one on eBay! Very funky

Yeah, I guess a bit tricky. Preload bolt sunk into recessed plate inside stem body, with clamp above, so the bars can clear it, kinda thing. Whoever it is (Analogue?) have made a quill one, presumably the quill-bolt is braced through a recessed plate below the bar clamp.

They were a thing in the Shit but Indestructible age of BMX, they made some 8 piece bars too which probably weighed a few KGs.
