You have a choice to sack it off if they are resolute in their commitment to being plague rats. Just make sure pops knows that this is on them.
Gotta look out for number 1.

Why does anyone take the bait from obvious trolls? Angry responses is what they want!
-
• #24756
Because it's kinda fun
-
• #24757
Nah, showing any emotion or trying to engage with them anyway seriously just makes them feel that they 'pwned the sheeple'. Better just to mock or ignore.
-
• #24758
Of course but it is interesting that as soon as one pops up there's a pile on of telling them where to fuck off to.
The right response of course, but I do wonder if there's some sort of scream pillow effect going on. We're all angry and upset, someone comes along who deserves a little shouting at, everyone sees their opportunity to let out some pent up feelings.
Interesting, psychologically speaking -

Where'd he go?! Damn it! Missed his responses! Nuked before I could laugh.

I’m still managing to avoid the rona in my house (touch wood) by avoiding the other half.
I have 3 friends who attended Xmas parties in London separately, all have caught covid, Xmas party encouragement has been a disaster.

I have no idea why ppl would want to go to social gatherings (probably inside) when there's a more contagious version out there that's semi bypassing vaccinations.
We've got plague rats in our family, when it was decided to have a family gathering we declined.
-

i think people feel they are "owed" a good time after all the shit they've put up with, i also think people reckon they are invincible. clearly they are not.

@PQR am in an almost identical boat here, but with a nine month old daughter in the mix too. Partner can't understand why 2 of my 3 bro's won't vaccinate or even test for our planned get together (at my folks house), what's difficult for (triple jabbed) me is I find the personal choice argument quite compelling, and my (triple jabbed) parents don't seem to give a sh*t either way; mum just wants to see all her boys at Christmas.
Would relish the opportunity to talk to them too, find out where their views comes from.
As commented elsewhere, now the government have categorically said they're not cancelling Christmas, I'm obviously expecting it to be cancelled anyway.

What's compelling?!
Let's put it this way, what if a parent dies because of a family gathering where an unvaccinated brother refused to do a lateral flow...
-

Not getting jabbed is, I suppose, a personal choice. Albeit a shit and selfish one.
Not testing yourself is, I'm afraid, a cunt's move. -
• #24766
Sure. And if in their day to day lives they come in to contact with no more than 4 people a week, lets say they're shepherds, and they are not physically engaging with these other folk, and if they do show signs of any symptoms they'll lock themselves away, then in their minds that could be considered as effective as vaccinating.
[looks for ban hammer]

Except if getting the jab reduces your chances of actually getting infected and spreading it.

My Mum's 60th birthday today. Had a train trip up to Shropshire to see her and lunch out with both of my sisters planned.
They both have 4 children each, both have had schools with outbreaks, one sister owns a beauty salon and does treatments on customer/stranger's faces the other works in social care with kids.
They don't understand what all the fuss is about, going ahead with the lunch. The lunch is a surprise for my Mum or else I think she'd have told them to cancel it, she told me not to come up, which is the choice I'd have made anyway given the circumstances.
I've just had to bite my lip or fall out with them but if either of my parents come down with it I'll be livid. -

christ i really don't envy some of you lot's familial set ups. Mum is going thru cancer treatment and brother has just come out of hospital following a heart attack and other brother is disabled and already immunocompromised (they all kinda live together, long story).
They told us to stay the fuck away.
cool bro's, story.

'but the swabs give you cancer!'
(They are sterilised with a gas that if you inhaled a lot of routinely probably would give you cancer. The quantities present by that time it gets to your nose are not a problem.)

Similarly, literally all of my close friends who have been to football matches recently have Covid. Feels that my decision to sack the footy off for a while was a good one.

4 colleagues of 7 that I worked with in the office last week are positive now. Feeling very lucky at the moment to still be testing negative. PCR is arriving today after taking a few days, oddly and more or less isolating, both from wanting to be sure I'm negative and wanting it to stay that way

The fallout from our work party is currently 5 down out of 27. People who shared cabs back / sat next to at dinner are testing nervously.
Mid and late 30s.
They're unlikely to cut back too much on their going out until they have too.
My view is it's either a full family Christmas lunch or they go and have a couple of nights out with their mates but not both.
I should add I've moved back to my home town and they're coming to stay with our Dad (who is also coming to lunch) so another reason to be cautious
Fun conversation to be had
