just bought this for less than 10k but not a car. We are also swapping our Smax for a VW Sharan

I would love something like that, but my wife wants something a little smaller.

S-Max is current front runner. I think the answer is to buy a people mover and then buy myself a hot hatch at the same time.

Not a massive amount of room in the 3rd row of seats in the smax but I guess it depends how old your kids are. Not much boot space either
Ours is the 1.6 ecoboost - not been great, reasonable to drive though .
