  • Back again with another post office question:

I sold something through eBay. The buyer, located in Europe, paid VAT to eBay as part of the transaction.

The post office website says, for this situation (IOSS through registered marketplace):

Tell the branch you've sold the item through an IOSS registered marketplace so we can ensure the correct IOSS number is allocated

I tried two branches and neither knew what this meant.

So my question is: what is an IOSS number, and how should the post office be allocating it?

  • I'm guessing that what you are after is an EORI (as opposed to IOSS) number, which your recipient should be able to provide you with.

  • I think eBay will automatically insert it into the address they want you to post it to. They definitely should if you buy postage through them.

  • Cheers. However I thought eori numbers were for businesses importing and exporting from the EU, not individuals.

But in any case, the quote in my post is verbatim from the post office website. So it's them asking for an IOSS number...

  • Thanks. It appears from that thread that an IOSS number identifies the registered marketplace, and thus might be equivalent to writing "IOSS eBay" on the parcel which is what I did.

I still don't get why the post office don't tell their staff what their own organisation requires.

  • Neutrogena T/Gel. Generally the coal tar one. But I used to alternate between the dry scalp one.

    https://www.neutrogena.co.uk/hair-and-scalp/dandruff-other-scalp-conditions/t-gel-therapeutic-shampoo

Boots will sometimes h@ve a deal on them.

Now my kids use Johnson's no more tears, I often use that first as it's so mild, and cheaper than doing two washes with the Neutrogena.

Also it might be worth working out what type of dandruff you have. Iirc there are 3 types. Have a search.

  • I used to get dandruff.

    Then I stopped using SHAMpoo.

  • stopped using SHAMpoo.

So now you use real poo?

  • Does anyone have one of these steam aroma diffusers from muji?

Are they noisy? And do they help to humidify air?

I'm going spare from lack of sleep due to a dry cough and wondering if it would help to get one and kind of point it in the direction of my face at night...

  • I'm no help with the muji thing but would drying your washing in the room help? It raises the humidity by about 10% when we do it

  • We bought the vicks humidifier for my daughter when she had a horrible cough, really seemed to help. You can buy expensive sticks you put in it with aroma, but we just put a few drops of olbas oil in the water tank, and that did the trick. Doesn't look quite as stylish as the Muji one...

  • The other day I glanced at a thread, someone getting jumped on pretty quick about the sale (price? For sale elsewhere?) It was a roughstuff, Roberts maybe? Got distracted by life getting in the way of the forum, later remembered to look for it again ... did the thread get nuked?

  • When I use bluetooth headphones for a Zoom call, the Zoom audio drops out temporarily every time my Win10 PC makes an alert noise, eg when I get an email to Outlook, or if I change the volume slider and it plays a little note, or if I open a Chrome tab with eg Tweetdeck. This doesn't happen when I use speakers, what is it about Bluetooth that means it prioritises different programs/apps' audio, and how can I push Zoom to the top of the list?

  • Any 'on here' metal workers/crafty types who might be able to re-make the aluminium parts of an old Zoom seatpost? Like this: http://www.bikepro.com/products/seatposts/zoom.html

  • Would there be any issues running fixed with these style dropouts? Seen surly do a 130mm hub so should be fine spacing wise
