  • I had a similar experience. It was an absolute faff figuring out what forms I needed to fill in to claim the duty back. I posted everything away last week, will let you know when I hear back.

  • What can I do? No point getting wound up about something I can’t change. Also, first world problems, my customs bill is too high on my rare bike with SR than I’m importing that I’ll get to use maybe 20 times a year…

  • fair point. Still sucks. Hopefully it'll work out okay and you'll get some of the money back.

  • It’s here! It’s also in perfect condition. On my way to work to strip, clean, re-grease and polish.

  • I’ll take some better pictures when it’s sunny.

  • Looks lovely! Worth it in the end?

  • Considering the condition, yes. After a re-grease all the bearings are smooth and there is no pitting. The frame only has a few marks on the paint. Apart from someone being ham fisted with the headset at one point it is about as perfect as you could hope a bike of this age can be.

  • Great news! Looks fantastic

  • That is damn cool.
Also great to see Clive Mitchell Cycles! I spent far too much of my teenage earnings in their old shop in Truro back in the 90s. I have set of wheels they built for me still spinning..Mavic Sunsets, Hope etc.

  • We still have a shop in Truro, we just also have the one I work at in Summercourt now.

  • Good to hear they're doing well, I don't live down there anymore (unfortunately/work etc) - it was a great little place and the guys would help me and my mates out all the time.
