I’ve been thinking of doing the opposite, cutting it longer to reduce the chain tension in big-big. I never ride small-small, but often ride big-big. So would love to know the best chain length optimised for that ratio.
That's what I've done - chain as long as possible without fouling the jockey wheels. My thinking was: 8 extra links = 8 extra links' worth of wear = longer chain life span, but it just looks a bit daft. This is on a 1x.
