  • @timmah!
@Vince champagne is excellent and fantastic value for money. Highly recommend ordering some.

  • It seems that it's possibly more environmental sound to render food scraps as liquid and have it treated as per sewage, compared to burning or landfill.

  • As long as it isn't too fatty and doesn't block the sewers I presume?

  • Maybe the fat content of scraps is insignificant compared to, say, pouring chip and frying fat down the drain. The idea is that the scraps are ground to very small pieces so will not clump in normal conditions. But if someone has just dumped a chip fryers worth of fat, a bunch of wet wipes and several nappies I guess all bets are off.

  • Anyone (through work) a member of the British Standards Institute and able to use the member's discount?

  • I’d also be interested in that; I can’t find my old iso.ch PDF of BS 6008/ISO 3103, and it could use a reprint. Can’t bring myself to cough up £134, even if it has been updated.

  • Isn't this the kind of thing a university library has for free to staff and students?

  • Champagne ordered. Thanks @Vince and others. I wish it was for me though

  • I'm after a super slim pocket sized power bank. I think I've got the old version of this, but misplaced it.

    Poweradd Slim 2 5000mAh

    Capacity
    5000 mAh
    18.5 Wh

    Dimensions (LxWxH)
    3.93 x 1.26 x 1.18 in

    9.98 x 3.20 x 3.00 cm

    Weight
    4.4 oz / 124 g

My memory is although it's "bag small" and it can fit in a pocket it's not really conducive to comfortably fitting in a front jeans pocket.

It gets recommended a lot I think because on the stats it's gvfm, powerful and small. But in reality I guess I'm just looking for 75% of a modern phone charge, but a decent % as quick as possible. More power is obviously always good though.

    Any other recommendations?

    Cheers.

  • Wife has an older version of this;

Works well, probably unlikely to burn the house down while charging which is a plus.

  • Cheers.

Would you say it's a comfortable fit in a front mens Jean pocket?

Kinda looks like a pack of cigarettes size.

  • It’s ok, not sure I’d go as far as comfortable but it’s perfectly liveable with, it’s not as wide as a pack of fags. Obviously when on it’ll heat your knackers up and render you sterile but for some that is an unexpected bonus, ymmv.

  • Are there any wifi, outdoor IP cameras out there that don't require some dodgy app (e.g. ONVIF or similar)?

I can find wired ones but nothing wireless.

  • Something from Ubiquiti? Looks mostly sold out though.

How are you going to power it?

  • What about those battery packs which double as a phone case?

  • That's what I've done - chain as long as possible without fouling the jockey wheels. My thinking was: 8 extra links = 8 extra links' worth of wear = longer chain life span, but it just looks a bit daft. This is on a 1x.

  • It will be mounted next to an outdoor plug socket.

Looks like the unifi stuff doesn't play nicely if you don't use their video software (and it's all sold out).

  • Have a look at Reolink. Pretty sure their wifi cams can be accessed/managed via a webbrowser

  • My battery is alright, so I don't need one of those yet. It's just some days I have some really high use (torch and BT) and want to have something I can grab that's small.

Then again I guess I can just grab the case and change it. So maybe not a bad idea.

  • Can anyone recommend a good dandruff shampoo?
I am very dry, flake in the wind, its very embarrassing.
    Cheers.

  • For years I had issues with the area around my beard especially. I don’t know for sure what it was (every doctor I’ve had suffers from a severe form of uninterestedness) but it was definitely related to dandruff. I went the wrong way for a long time, using a variety of oily medications to rehydrate my “dry” skin. Turns out the thing that really worked for me was an acne cream that was sulphur based. Started with Clearasil until they changed their formula and now have used Acnomel. Both were at about 8% sulphur, and I ended up using them about 2-3 times a week.
    Works for me.

  • I was going to suggest trying Selsun, which uses an anti fungal agent (selenium disulphide?). Might be less nuclear than the 8%sulphur acne cream and have the same desired effect

  • Bad dandruff is sometimes seborrheic dermatitis. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/seborrheic-dermatitis/symptoms-causes/syc-20352710 And for that you need Nizoral! Used to be prescripion only, but now over the counter in pharmacies. Proper stuff. Spread it around everywhere, inc face, eyebrows, ears. Leave it in for 5 mins, then rinse.

  • If you want an actual shampoo then I use https://uk.davines.com/products/purifying-shampoo
and its the only shampoo that has ever made any difference to my dandruff. Not cheap and sometimes hard to find in stock, I think last time I had to get it off Amazon at £60 for 1000ml.
