That would be worse really, given one of those was Spa. Verstappen did exactly what he needed and it would be unfair to punish him in the circumstances. I think the teams need to read the riot act on the consistency of rule enforcement. It’s impossible to strategize with a probability that rules will be bent in favour of spectacle.

Im just predicting what I think will happen, not what should happen or how it’ll turn out.

I reckon they should set up a three way championship decider in 10 days time, between Lewis, Max and kimi. Then max should go missing and get kidnapped by Paul Newman and spend a week in Radiator Springs learning the meaning of friendship from a rusty pickup truck and a sexy Porsche who gave up cocaine to run a failing motel. Then when Max is about win the race, he should stop on the line a go back to help Kimi (who Lewis hits put in the wall) and Lewis would win, but everyone would know that Max was real winner because he finally understands the true nature of friendship

Might be that the "right" result that comes from this is that the race director stops deciding championships and the stewards become consistent in their decision making.

They can't not do - all of their sponsors will expect them to exhaust all avenues, even if Merc think it's a dead duck. I agree with the opinion expressed above that the current decision will stand.

The break whilst 5 minutes up the road got held up at a level crossing 2km from the finish and the chaser was given a feed and a switch to a TT bike before being set off side by side.

Missed this. Agree that last race should be as equal as all others, I just miss the added variable of potential for rain, somewhat uncertain track temp, etc. that Suzuka and Interlagos threw into the mix more often than not. We take yesterday's race as a prime example, had it not been for the safety car incidents and last lap shitshow it was a pretty humdrum race. I think we can agree that the most exciting races, whether championship deciders or not, are ones where rain comes into play in one way or another.

I'm not advocating for artificially wet GPs like Bernie's sprinklers idea from a while back , just think that holding the final race in a desert where there's close to zero chance of rain (we'll leave the shit track argument aside) is a bit poo.

Sorry I completely misread your original statement there! Think we're definitely on the same page regarding having a track that provides some possibility for unpredictability. Still miffed at the 2010 season finale being ruined (IMO) by being held at Abu Dhabi. 2 of the title protagonists being unable to pass a sub-par driver in a mid-field car was not a good way to finish that season!
