I dunno, they seem ok? Not totally sure though, I use terrible brake pads and only ever wear out one rim at a time as they've only ever been on my fixed bikes. That being said if your brake track ain't a crescent your fixie ain't pressin'

I’m riding 44x18 for some winter twiddling.
Speaking of such, I ride a similar ratios (49/20), however what I have notice is that I don't quite sit down properly when going at a higher speed, compare to a higher gearing that enable a relaxed cadence and thus able to relax onto the saddle and handlebar.
Do you find this to be the case?

You have to, as @middleofnowhere once told me, make your ankles go floppy. You can't push or resist at 66gi when thing get above 27/28mph, you have to sit down absorb the prescribed rhythm

46:19 is biggest gear I generally ride.
I find it pretty hard to 'drive' the pedals at higher cadences but riding rollers has definitely increased my ability to spin.
214rpm is my max cadence on rollers (and I guess I must actually be 'driving' the pedals to this cadence as it cant come from descending since on the rollers), on the road I max out at 203rpm and that tends to be when descending.
When hitting higher cadences I really concentrate non pushing my bum into the saddle and only using my legs.

And that’s the badgers, it’s a disciple that require a bit of concentration unlike a road bike where you don’t need to concentrate to be comfortable due to coasting.
I tell you one thing, never go down the Pyrenees on a fixed wheeler, that’s another level of pains.

Anyone got one of those spa cycles audax monos with the steel fork?
-
• #1886
@youramericanlover almost did but then found a flyer in his size; far better bike
-
• #1887
Yeah I looked into it. I thought 'hey it's got audax in the name it'll be comfy' but the geo is much more track than slack. I think it's the same geo as the Spa Audax which has an entry on bikegeo or whatever that site is called and it was "long and low" to quote user Amey. Genesis Flyer had much more reasonable stack and reach

Is it that much different from a gazetta if it’s square?
Just want steel fork, nice mounts and 32s
Spacers are fine, could even size up
It’s all 725 and comes out to just about 400 shipped
Flyer is nice but carbon forks and I don’t want to buy frame, and a fork, then sell the other fork m
Just want angry northern shop owner to send me frame
Alas, will simply ride the too small langster

I have a pompino in a shed which I’m ignoring so will not be going for an all day
Also sold my 56 pomp which rode similar
Want callipers, want something a bit daintier
Want a gazetta with 30/32s
Don’t want steam roller costs too much and is bit dull
I’m simply stuck with the langster…the cheugy langster

All City Big Block in the classifieds?
Edit: with 75’s for £350!
Another edit: no mounts

I was tempted by this but it doesn’t spark joy, think the attraction of the flyer/ mono is it’s a “road bike” with one gear, not a track bike.
Insane deal tho

I've got a 56cm Paddy Wagon of the Deda variety that I'm considering selling.

How about going for something vintage lugged 1" Reynolds 531 with horizontal dropouts and mudguard mounts etc and then having the steerer extended so you can use aheadset and modern bars/stems? I have had great experiences doing this. And it can be done for next to nothing if you don't mind tatty paint
-
• #1897
does it have lots of steerer, and i mean, lots of steerer
-
• #1898
mentally not strong enough for a "projectTM" but you're right, this would be the most sensible option and provide the best value for money
-
• #1899
Get a frameset which could work and use a steerer extender to begin with. If that works out for you, you can then get the steerer perminently extended. If it doesn't work you can sell on with no loss.
Frame is likely to be square and with loads of spacers. BUT just embrace that and don't let all the fuckers on the internet tell you that's wrong. Spacers arent wrong -SPACER SHAMING IS WRONG
Shit me a thread I have not infiltrated...Ney marred.
