  • Would it still be illegal to unlock your phone to use the McDonalds app on private land? Didn't think road law would apply to a McDonald's forecourt.

Yes. If 'the public have access' then the usual laws apply.

https://thedrivingsolicitor.co.uk/2019/03/11/road-or-other-public-place-where-do-driving-laws-apply/ has a bunch of edge case examples. Apparently a pub car park changes status when the pub closes. So you can probably legally use your phone at McDonalds drive through providing it isn't open.

  • A friend of mine was recently given the points or course choice after unlocking his phone in stationary traffic on the M11. Fair, bang to rights....but surprising to some.

Might have got away with it if he had turned his ignition off first. Not sure how you would prove that or if a court would believe you.

  • Noisy fucking baby

  • Thanks, that's useful. It's something I've occasionally idly pondered without ever bothering to find the answer.

  • I wonder how auto start/stop would affect that angle?

  • Breakfast in bed.

How the fuck does anyone enjoy eating in bed, absolutely rank.

  • I wonder how auto start/stop would affect that angle?

I think you would have to have the car 'off'. I have stop/start but also a big on/off button. But kind of hard to prove.

I wish cars had black boxes that recorded all this stuff and made it available for download (signed to make it non-trivial to tamper etc) but apparently typical car buyers don't want it so manufacturers don't add it.

You need to be "safely parked" to handle a mobile device in a vehicle.
Stopped in traffic/ lights is not safely parked (even if it is a 6 mile long stationary tailback)

All those scenes in films where people are suprised to be woken up with a tray of breakfast in bed and they just tuck in.

We all know they must be busting for their morning dump.

  • How the fuck does anyone enjoy eating in bed

A lot of people enjoy a bit of crumpet in bed ...

  • Yeah fuck that. Once I’m awake, I’m a bit done with being in bed.

Massive tellys on the wall in bedrooms too. Makes me feel a bit stressed out for some reason.

  • One 'L'. Kalimotxo (Calimocho)

  • I'd vote for that.

  • Bananas. I love em really but they have to be just right and getting them just right is a bit of a lottery. Under-ripe and they are too firm and taste metallic, over-ripe and they are mushy or taste like flour.
Another issue is Lidl’s amazing skill at bruising the things without it showing on the skin. No idea how they do it, everyone else’s bananas go black where they are prodded.

  • Same with all fruit really. Best to just eat sweets instead, nice and consistent.

  • People who drop their weights in the gym. Worse still with cable machines just letting it clank back down. Absolute pussies, acting tough

  • Weight gyms should have inductions. I know it’s down to the individual to inform themselves, but we often don’t know what we don’t know.

E.g., guy at my high school who stapled himself to the ground doing squats not knowing he could (and should) dump the damn thing off his back when his rep started failing. I didn’t witness it so not sure exactly how it happened, but every gym user was made to sign a form the day after.

  • Usually preceded by some serious grunting and followed up with staring at phone for 10 minutes while sitting on machine.

  • Man I'm so hard I'm just gonna chuck this fukin thing

  • dump the damn thing off his back when his rep started failing.

Didn’t want to drop the weights did he..

  • Greenwash advertising.

(Obvs don't click the links as I've broken them but the link text says enough for each of them...)

  • Being woken up from a nap. I feel worse than before.

  • Able bodied people parking in Disabled Parking Bays.

Putting your hazard warning lights on doesn't make it OK you twats.
