Ah balls! Kids really are not conducive to concentration in any way. Just took my wife and I about 10 mins of constant interruptions just to establish who was taking the dog for a walk.
I ended up buying the thing (watch) second hand for not much less than I could have got it new 🤷♂️

This.
Although it's coddled eggs they make, no?
Or does a coddler need a lid?
-
• #18029
Doesn't there need to be a daddy chicken before you get an unborn chick?
Unless you're actually talking about balut.
In which case, I'd feel a little squeamish even having it as an ingredient.
And certainly not in a Victoria sponge.

Yeah, let's be clear. It's chicken period we are eating not foetus.

As a friend pointed out to a French waiter who was being incredulous about her being vegetarian but eating eggs:
You wouldn't eat a baby but I bet you'd go down on me while I'm bleeding.
That shut him up.
It was also an impressive display of idiomatic French.

But madam, I'd need to get your consent first and I'd not kill you when you reach menopause or your friend here at birth. (In French)

Making a lot of assumptions about this waiter, there

Oui.

Yeah I don’t know what you’d call it, but it’s not ‘poached’!
Boiled!
Imagine if eggs came in a suitable container, which keeps them together whilst in a pan of water.

Anyone who beeps their fucking horn to alert someone in a house that they’ve arrived. There’s a taxi driver who picks up on our street regularly and he’s going to get a thump one day.
-
• #18037
What about the cunts who have said their goodbyes as they get in their car but insist on driving away, tooting those waving goodbye at the door?
-
• #18038
Cunts indeed
-
• #18039
Obnoxious in the extreme.

Fucking A.
Neighbours opposite used to have some absolute cunt who'd do this when picking up their kids for the school run.
- It's around the same time every day, so they can just look out the window.
- For the last 20yrs everyone has had a fucking mobile phone, so why not call.

This driver in particular always seems to do two lots of beeps. I’m hoping that will give me opportunity to go out and have a chat next time.
I don’t want to report him to the taxi firm because it’s a livelihood but I will if he doesn’t stop.

Because they don't have a handsfree thing and don't want to break the law?
Not that most uses of car horns are lawful anyway.
-

One of the best things about Shanghai is that honking your horn is illegal - every time I leave the city I'm reminded of how annoying it is to have people honking for no reason other than to make themselves feel more important. It's not illegal to use a phone while driving though and sometimes you see taxi drivers with multiple phones on the dashboard, one for work, one for chatting to friends and one for watching videos.

Is it illegal to use your phone when parked in a car?
And on the hands free - their current car definitely would have come with it. Idk about their old Mazda 3, 50/50 is my guess. Plus phones have speakers.
It's just easier to tap a horn than have the inconvenience of a brief wait or to dial a number. And they haven't considered that hooting outside one house is actually hooting outside 14 other people's homes who may not like it.

Probably, it is a bit of a grey area. For example it is illegal to unlock your phone and pay for your drive through McDonald's. You are probably breaking the law if the engine is running (/on for EVs and cars with stop/start).

A friend of mine was recently given the points or course choice after unlocking his phone in stationary traffic on the M11. Fair, bang to rights....but surprising to some.
Would it still be illegal to unlock your phone to use the McDonalds app on private land? Didn't think road law would apply to a McDonald's forecourt.
-
• #18047
Should be illegal to use McDonalds.

If there phone was in a cradle and they didn't have BT/some way of it staying unlocked in the car it seems a bit harsh.
It's a long way from all the people I used to see just holding their phone up to their head on my commute into London, or slowly rrolling along texting.

Nah, was in their hand. He was unlocking his phone to reply to a message.

Prisons too good for him.
Coddled eggs are what my dad always called them
