When is used to do early morning time trials (many years ago) there was a vast array of embrocation available. I used to buy the cheapest and hottest. No idea if it made any difference but I liked the smell!

Not sure if this is what you are after, but over the summer I woke up one morning with an extremely painful neck muscle. It was a morning I had planned 150 miles. Rubbed plenty of deep heat cream on it and by 30 minutes later it was moving and not much of a problem. Only thing is the cream has a pungent smell.

Sports Balm Hot and Sportique are the only two I've used and it was so long ago I can't even offer you an opinion of either. I just wear knee warmers, tights, bibtights, etc so I don't want that mess on them or my legs as it's a bitch to wash off.

Also note that many OTC muscle rubs contain ibuprofen which is a bad idea if you are advised not to take NSAIDs

The label looks like its 50 years old ? Just a retro design

Plus a good shout about ibuprofen contents.

All those rubs were bunkum, just rub raw chillis on your legs for the same effect. They were pepper extracts in oil that just irritated the skin to make you feel hot.
I don't see a topic so does anyone have a preference on a warm up balm /oil to get the knee circulation going before the cold commute . Naqi welda arnica or similar.
Thanks.
