Chain.
Think this is the universe telling me I need to lose weight.
It was on the geekhouse which is essentially bulletproof. -

Fine thanks DJ. Few new bruises appeared or made themselves obvious over the following days, but mostly just grateful my eye is ok.

I'm okay. Chin scar is a bit bumpy, but it'll be okay. Otherwise no problems. Rode 4hrs yesterday and 2.5hrs the day before.
Got the bike home today and pulled the mudguard off.

Car driving aggressively in Brixton, decided to let it pass and cut into some parking bays, car slowed down as it passed me, thought I had more time to pull up behind the car and didn't see the island which splits the parking bays, front wheel straight into the kerb, me flying BUT stayed on the bike, dinged rim and punctured front tube, not a scratch on me though!

Brief report to while away waiting for an op. Three weeks ago, Borehamwood, small roundabout, drain grate maybe black ice, front wheel gone, distal radius (longitudinal) fracture and rearranged dentistry. Fracture clinic unhappy about how repair positioned, so plate and screw today. Crash was a fine advert for Uniqlo slim chinos (not my normal choice of kit). Unmarked once washed the knee-goo from them.

Thanks. Just transferred to a ward where 75+ year old fellow in-mates listening to Pete Tong Friday dancetunes. Banging.

Because of late-ish intervention, surgery removed lots of nice new mineralization, so extra discomfort points. Dental repairs survived anaesthetic, previously bike unharmed, so all good really. Bye.

Stacked it this week on my commute, on a corner I must have ridden hundreds if not thousands of times. It was cold and pre 7am, and it is in a small lowish dip entering a well tarmaced park path but still often feels colder than the surrounding streets.
I was wrapped up warm but clearly the temperate year meant i wasn't really expecting greasy/black ice. I don't think it was ice but it was close and very slick when I walked over it.
No harm done but take care in the mornings out there.

One night on an orthopaedic ward does put things in context. The other gents there on slower recovery trajectories.

Yes. The nights in hospital are very long, one finds. Heal up quick!

Be careful out there guys.
Ended up in hospital yesterday I was knocked off bike from a car behind. Nothing broken but I'm pretty shook up and considerably bruised -
• #2318
That's crap; heal up soon!

Thanks really looking for the members of the public who helped me

Sorry to hear that. Did you get witnesses' details or are they the people you're looking for? You don't say if you need compensation for anything, e.g. bike damage. It's always worth repeating that injuries may only show up later, e.g. when you aggravate them, even if the hospital has already checked you over. Heal up quickly!

Hit the deck on my way home tonight. Super greasy roads out there.
Nothing major to report, tore my jacket and base layer, gouged a bit of elbow and my hip is killing but no major harm done. Plenty of people asked if I needed help or was I ok which was a welcome change from when I got hit by a car and passers by left me in the road -

Scary one today. A van driver stepped into road from behind his vehicle without looking. Managed to mostly miss him but couldn't not catch his arm with handlebar, so ended up a couple of feet further out where almost immediately the wing mirror of passing car whacked into other bar end.
Held on & stayed upright so mostly no harm done but wrists and fingers a little bit sore in places.
Ow. Chain or crank snap?
Please take it easy, but you are better qualified than me as to how to not exacerbate a TBI.
