  • Boiling eggs winds me right up to. I feel like I’d need a complicated chart, cross-referencing water temp, cook time, egg size, egg freshness, proximity to leyline, in order to get anywhere near a semblance of consistency.

    About 1 in every 6 times I ask, my kids express interest in scrambled eggs instead of dippy egg, and I breath a massive sigh of relief.

    A bit like rice cookers, you'll find one in almost every home in cultures that eat lots of eggs. It was my Polish relatives who put me on to them.

    They come with a little measuring cup, that says soft, medium and hard on the side. Fill to the appropriate line, turn on, and a buzzer tells you when your eggs are cooked to perfection.
