That's not true. You can screen print with various pigments and mediums, with varying degrees of opacity.
Fair enough, my fabric screen printing experience was fairly limited.
How fine the screen mesh is plays a large part in opacity too - a coarser mesh will allow a larger volume of ink through, resulting in a higher opacity (basically a thicker layer of ink).
