also had positive PCR test dated 16 August so not sure how that affects booster jab
I overheard a nurse advise somebody to wait 28 days from positive PCR to booster today. Your August test should not change anything if thats true. Once again, no idea if thats the official advice, just what I overheard while in waiting area.

bunch of my colleagues are doing an unofficial one tonight, their logic being that the WFH dictate comes into play on Monday so it's all good... more than happy to leave them to it.

Its 28 days recommended, yep. I'm waiting for mine to expire so I can get my booster, as just out of isolation yesterday.

are the guys/st thomas’s centres still open?
Yup, that’s where my next jab will be

Ours is still going ahead tomorrow but lots of dropouts. I'm wavering tbh, don't think I'm going to go. Just spoke to my delivery manager about it and he said to take the time off if I don't go so it could be a rare bike ride opportunity

office slack channel is awash with pix of folks in their sunday finest hugging, falling over each other and having what appears to be a great time.
i really hope none of them get fucking sick / make people they care about fucking sick.
Still, if boris can do it - so can we lol!

Every other person in my lab is at the party now. One person was asked not to come as their flat mate has it, government said it’s fine so they are cracking on.

You work in a lab, with science people? And they are going to an office party? Bro, do you even science?
-

government said it’s fine
The ridiculous guidance that if you suspect a close contact may be omicron positive you should self-isolate otherwise all-out bangface is such bollocks. How can anyone have any idea if it's omicron or not?

Isnt there a fine line between anti-vaxxers not believing in the government and people who go above and beyond gov guidelines to isolate themselves?
Mistrust is mistrust no?

You could’ve counted the number of people wearing masks at the bonfire night at HHV on two hands, out of several hundred (a thousand?) attendees. There was some ugly fat fuck ranting about how masks are useless and you’re more likely to die on your bike than from Covid
Is this the prominent member of the HHV community it sounds like?

Interesting question. I've been happy to follow the guidance as it stands - went to festivals in the summer, been clubbing this autumn etc - pretty much life as in the before-times. But now have old relatives to see over Christmas and a family holiday planned so don't want to jeopardise those, so will be being much more cautious because of that. A christmas party (puttshack + pub dinner + copious booze) doesn't seem sensible with London having the highest rates of infection since Jan.
That and the fact that the new rules are so muddled makes me plan to do my own (more cautious) thing for now. When there's nothing riding on it I'm sure I'll be back to the pub. -

Ecologists, I can’t moan to much as I was dragged to a wedding on the weekend. It feels like the beginning of the pandemic again, I need a hit of the hopium.
I’m going to be careful now until Xmas as I want to see family and will hopefully see friends between Xmas and new year if omicron hasn’t gone absolutely crazy.

One visit to the office in 31 days and I'm a close contact. PCR booking time. HR seem on top of everything which is nice.

If people (under 40) are trying to their booster shot, I've found /r/getjabbed to be a really good resource. There are a number of sites around London taking walk ins for anyone 18+, most notably St Thomas' Hospital. I tried there yesterday but got there just at the evening cutoff, it is also the busiest of any of these centers but apparently a pretty sure bet if you want it today!
Fingers crossed I'll have my booster by the end of next week!! -

Mrs Hedge (38) was turned away at Waldron Health Centre in New Cross earlier but was told to come back on Tuesday, which is when they think they will be permitted to allow under 40s.

Yeah word on the street is under 40s will be allowed to book by next week. If so this makes the situation post christmas and new years a lot less scary! That is if this can be rolled out with some speed.

I can book with the pharmacy now, but not with the mass vaccination center in Belfast.
So that's a bit weird, I guess I will just drive down to the "no appointment needed" center.
Pharmacy doesn't have anything until Jan 5

Costing me $255 to get a lateral flow in Houston before we fly back. My wife can claim hers back from work but that is absolute robbery. Symptomatic of what happens when you privatise healthcare.

Lines up with the text I got from the GP surgery today to say they're doing walk ins at the Waldron Health Centre for jabs 1 or 2 and also boosters 14th to 19th. It does say 'Boosters for all those elligible . Must be 91 days post 2nd dose.' so not sure if that means there is an extra eligibility criteria or just the 91 days post dose is the elligibilty requirement.
They do say there will be free festive refreshments though so I'd expect a mince pie and a sherry.

I've just walked in to Artesian Health Centre, Grange Rd, SE1 and was boostered within 5 mins of walking through the door. No queues, nice friendly staff, free Pfizer on tap. 10/10, would boost again.
Most of my colleagues are still going to our one tonight, I'm a bit baffled to be honest.
