  • Not got any useful info myself, but looking forward to seeing where you go with it. Think the common complaint is that a few of them have plastic gearboxes, not sure if there are more durable options though. What grinder have you got? Not sure if there's a decent upgrade out there for my Sette, thankfully it seems to be holding up fine so far.

  • Yeah, the plastic internals is my primary concern with my grinder (and I guess other Baratza grinders). Though the replacements are cheap and look easy to replace: https://www.baratza.com/shop/gearbox-kit

    Would happily pay a few times more for a more sturdy replacement kit. It's all well and good now, but 10-20 years down the road, the replacements may not be so easy to get.

    Though at this point, with doserless, low-retention grinders becoming more common, I'll likely just aim to pick up a more commercial grinder that I can rely on for a long lifespan and eternally available spares (one of my big reasons for loving the La Pavoni)
