  • Watched this at the weekend and enjoyed it, wish it was longer or a series though, wasn't actually that much detail on each mountain.

Scariest bit too me was the helicopter taking them back up Annapurna to rescue the other climber and them just dangling from a rope, I get he's ex SBS so might not be phased by it but surely his support crew must of been way out there comfort zones.

Also wasn't clear on if only he got the record or if any of the crew did as well.

  • I enjoy how Succession gives you little scraps of likability here and there and because everyone is so utterly awful, it doesn't take much for the viewer to think 'oh, they showed some humanity - I like them now!'. Then they'll go and do something despicable in the next episode. There is literally no one at all I'm rooting for, but for some reason that works.

  • Exactly this. Brilliant writing of the characters - just enough to make them slightly sympathetic before dropping another load of awfulness. The dick pic was a new level of shuddering embarrassment, even after the party. And Shiv's dirty talk - oh my.

  • I'm not sure but I think he had a group of people helping him with only a handful actually going up to each peak - when you see pictures of the group, it's a lot more than the people he introduces in it.

Yes would have been nice to have a bit more info on the mountains but I guess they didn't know how popular it would be so probably didn't have the budget for it. Maybe they'll do a second run or he'll have more projects in the mountains where they can cover it!

  • I know it's been talked about before, but has anyone been keeping up with What we do in the Shadows? I really love that TV show and it's my solid recommendation.

  • We binged the latest series. It's bloody great.

  • It's good but the Alpinist is way better, as is The Last Mountain

  • This last season has been really good, many actual lols

  • I really enjoyed the Lazlo and Colin Robinson story arc, without giving away any spoilers I really thought the whole energy vampire backstory was going to go in a different direction.

  • The Cockfields is pretty good, Royal family and detectorists vibes, Joe Wilkinson is actually quite good as a not his usual self persona, very white.

  • It is great, fact...

  • Also watching Wheel of Time. I've had a lot of time sitting around waiting for trains and planes in the last few weeks so it's been good filler alongside Invasion, Foundation and (now) Hawkeye. Invasion is quite stressful but the rest are pretty easy watching.

  • Surprisingly inspiring & quite nice to watch a documentary on Netflix that isn't about crime or negativity!

Exactly why I put it on my list, I’m all ears for similar things.

  • Watched the first episode of Landscapers last night. Utterly brilliant on every level. First class performances from the leads, beautifully directed and cut.

  • Does it pick up? Turned it off after 10 mins as quite uninteresting. Was I too eager to move on?

  • I was captivated from the start, so maybe just not for you. I’d recommend sticking with it though

  • Enjoying Gentefied on Netflix. Started watching because I'd picked up on the end of Narcos got back into Narcos Mexico and was enjoying trying to understand the spoken Spanish and the differences to the subtitles I could occasionally pick up on. It was a bit late to watch another hour of people getting shot so stuck one on as they're only half an hour and it's half English half Spanish set in LA, it's actually quite good, well shot, acted and written and occasionally funny and got me in the feels a few times.

  • Boogie Nights but it’s the 1980’s LA Lakers with Magic Johnson

  • That looks brilliant, can’t wait

  • My brother recommended 100ft wave
I used to surf badly years ago, this is nothing I recognise as surfing. It’s beyond terrifying, the consequences of fucking up are terminal.
But as ever with these things, it’s about the characters and how they engage with their environment.

    8/10

  • After reading that New Yorker article I finally started watching Succession. Really enjoying it
and now I see the article in a different light, as if the comments by his co-actors were made in character too. Brian Cox damning him with fatherly praise and Kieran Culkin basically just saying
"yeah, but what about me?". The author is basically just saying haha look at that ugly fucker trying to be a movie star and talking to famous people out of turn.

  • It’s a succession crisis, all chasing the crown. The cast are all big hitters, who will win at acting?

  • hehe
