When do you insert the Nespresso capsule for the full effect? Between the start and finish?
-
• #50053
yes the Japanese style toilets are the best, you can just get a toilet seat with it built in.

The goal here is no brown water.

Thanks :)
I have a lease with the management company which I am 1/5 of, who themselves have a head lease with the freeholder. The freeholder is absent and I wouldn't know how to contact them. Management co permission/addendum should be easy but really not sure on the freeholder bit -

Easy in difficulty, expensive in money and time, as Usually this can only be done via respective sollicitors.
The mangement company should be able to guide you. This will demand effort from them which is unsual, so be firm and patient. -

Plus the added excitement of the instructions being in Japanese so you're not quite sure what's going to happen when you press each button.

Surely you can fit a non return valve to the supply. The same way that is required with mixer taps to prevent cross contamination.

We're looking at getting our bathroom done at the moment and I was a complete convert to bumhoses after spending a good amount of time over in Vietnam. After being reminded of this wonderful time, I turned to ask my OH if she would be alright if we got one installed during the refurb.
It was a firm no :<
Seems the western world just isn't ready for it yet.

Cold is the way to go. So refreshing.
This seems a bit extreme. I think my water pipe isn't buried as deep as it should be and in the winter the cold water is really cold. I skin swim outdoors all year round but the thought of a icy blast to just my bum sounds awful!

FINALLY a thread I can fully engage in. I spent a bit of time in corporate India and I've never felt entirely clean since coming back so I desperately want a bum gun in my new place.
It's MUCH easier to install the cold water but is it legit OK even in the winter? The idea of getting a cold blast up the jacksie on a frosty winter's morn strikes me as being a little intense.

It intrigues me that people who advocate cold only have had the refreshing blast of the cold supply in a south East Asian country where year round the cold water is tepid in deep mid winter. That’s like me saying I have a cold shower most days and the rest of you should HTFU and do the same.
-

Even if you have the thing plumbed into the hot water supply you will have to wait to clear the cold water in the pipes before if will even be tepid.
There are ways round this, it is possible to have the hot water from a cylinder circulated around a "ring main" (I'm sure that's not the correct term but I'm not a plumber) with the various hot water feeds drawing off this. This is effective in large buildings like hotels but not cost effective in domestic settings as you have to pay to have pumps running all the time and the cylinder will lose heat quicker.

the main flat who ran the managament co sold their flat earlier in the year and I suspect nobody will know anything and that it'll be on me. So I think it'll be me applying effort
I think I'm going to need to run the management company! -

the thought of a icy blast to just my bum
This is the thrill of it IMO. I wouldnt install a hot water mixer tap for this ever.

I am Team Cold Water Bum Gun so I can never be convinced of 'warm' water. And what @Ramsaye said.

I see. I am not sure how that works in case of an absentee freeholder, or just an unresponsive one.
regarding the works themselves, your lease will say that your forbidden to do structural works, etc. or that you need to get permission for any non-structural ones. Leases written in the past are a bit funny and unsuspecting current technology and con
But you just have to think about it in terms of coverage if issues occur down the line. ( subsidience, noise, etc. ). For example, if my flat was sinking due to a another leaseholder non-approved works, if someone installed some parquet while the lease doesn't allow it, i would be in my right to ask for the owner to revert to previous state.
If you buy a flat where the leasehold plan doesn't match the current state, those problems are on you. On the positive side, if things are done properly, it is somehow an asset in case of resale. -

I'm certainly intrigued. Looks like installing one would cost less than £50 in parts and is within my plumbing capabilities. Hmmmm.

For a bum hole?
It's not inaccurate -

Anyone got a dehumidifier recommendation?
Just bought an EcoAir DD1 Classic in preference to a Meaco DD8L, mainly because it's slightly smaller. Giving it a test run now vs. some laundry.
-
• #50072
Cheers.
Still battling with my OH as to why we need to spend 200 on something to increase our bills.
I really need a paying job so I can just buy this shit myself without getting financial approval.
-
• #50073
It could even reduce your bills. A dry house is easier to heat, and it will kick out some heat itself.
-
• #50074
Have been using a dehumidifier ourselves but have found that, when doing the "laundry drying" settings, it seems to make our 3yo daughter cough during the night - anyone else found the same?
-
• #50075
That could just be that room being too dry, hopefully. But I would still make sure the filters and everything are clean. We have, counterintuitively, a humidifier for the bedroom to counter this.
