Sort of don't improve, move you mean?
That's what I always wonder with ours if we did a loft and rear x.

The value aspect is something that continues to pop up in our reno. First, it was the decision not to do the side return and now it's whether or not to do a loft conversion. It's been an enlightening experience really questioning what we do and don't need. I know our lifestyle and budgets are very different but I would sit down with your wife and look at whether your original design is necessary. You may find that with some small edits you can still create something magnificent or it may simply confirm your original plan. £300k is a lot of value that needs to be clawed back if this is not going to be your forever home.

So we heard back from our architects today, rather than a February start date it’s looking more like August on top of that due to the increasing costs of building materials it’s been suggested we have to further narrow the scope of work or increase the budget.
I’m now considering what to do and whether to just sack it off.
I think we really need to get a better handle on the costs of the works either from them or a QS and from there make a decision. It’s not that we can’t afford it but there comes a point where you kind of have to question the value of it
