What wood did you decide on? I need to replace ours and construction seems achievable with the tools and space I have already.

French scieries are vastly cheaper than DIY stores. Find a recommendation for a good one near you. I bought all the timber to build my kitchen units for about 150€. (The French for ‘planed all round’ is ‘rabotée’)
Failing that there are a lot of destockage places with more finished timber for a good discount.

Would now be a good time to say I have built doors, for a garage..
Now I'm looking at building a gate.
So far I spent more time deciding on what would and trying to find places to buy the wood other than DIY places.
