The pondering made me go to Fulham Timber and price it up. For 12ft joists plus a bit extra for noggins and the invariable cockups. It's about £300 for the frame timber. Which I'll need to add to the cost of screws when weighing up against concrete. Hmmm.
I'm a complete layman, but if you are putting screws mid joist, presumably you dont even need noggins? As each span would only be (joist length/number of screws per joist).
