There is a big hammer coming down on them very soon.
Get vaccinated or GTFO.
No vax, you’re on leave without pay. No benefits either. -

Wow 😮 I’d get fired for posting that at work!

Google tells me that's a Latin American publication, would've been less surprised if it had come out of Spain TBH... Smh...

I think it took about a week for mine to appear

I've found that increased humidity helps against sore throat symptoms. Breathing in cold dry air makes it worse. Same with coughing, tend to cough less when having a chest cold.

How likely am I to find somewhere to get a pre travel PCR test in France on the 27th of December?
Whether we are going to be able to go at all is subject to how the next 2 weeks play out, but I expect getting a private non NHS PCR test outside of a big city in France is going to be somewhat challenging? -

Can't you order in advance to take it with you?

Is there a body responsible for monitoring corporations' compliance with government guidance on CV19?
-
• #24238
I hadn’t thought of that, though it’s more about getting the result in time to travel? Getting a sample posted and tested over Xmas is not likely to be quick..

I have no idea of the logistics I'm afraid, but something to look into I guess... In the UK some of the private services have dedicated drop-off/collection points that hopefully avoid the seasonal post issues...

A chemist/place to get tests done should be open. Might need to go to bigger town.
-

It doesn't need to be PCR. Lateral flow works as well. You should be able to get that done there in a pharmacy, or take one with you from the UK which you then register the result of online.

Bloody hell. Cases up 87% in Blackheath West in the last 7 days.

Blackheath West, not Blackheath Village or Standard.
Up 139% in Herne Hill apparently.
Didn't realise that those figures are only updated once a week. Last updated on 1st.

Not surprised. You could’ve counted the number of people wearing masks at the bonfire night at HHV on two hands, out of several hundred (a thousand?) attendees. There was some ugly fat fuck ranting about how masks are useless and you’re more likely to die on your bike than from Covid, such is the delusion and sheltered privilege some people live in.

Though you can't use an NHS one as the pre-return test - needs to
line the pockets of a tory donorbe an officially registered private one. -

A very good thread here from an epidemiologist I worked with in a previous life.
Obviously its just one professional opinion and to be taken as such.

I saw that before, very concerning. It’s going to be so hard to convince people that we may need more restrictions again.

Yeah, now is the time for the official messaging to change up a bit.
Feels like we are sleepwalking into another cancelled Christmas.
So many flawed hot takes on Omicron on social media. "Its just mild", "low vaccine rates" (Gauteng has high levels of natural immunity from Delta), etc etc
Its just way too early to say anything for sure, other than the early signs are concerning AF.

That’s all I heard at the wedding yesterday (about the mildness of omicron) I didn’t think it was the right place to be arguing with people about covid though.
Good thread on new variant ans what we know so far
