I believe the actual colour was created during a collaboration between Garrett Chow and Chas Christiansen while working on a line of Oakley sunglasses specifically designed for the fixed gear market. As such, the details of the colour are a closely guarded secret.

Chas did let slip in an interview with Fixed Mag:

‘We were totally stoked when we discovered after applying [the colour] to a bike frame that it somehow recycled the energy of sick whip skids back into the forward momentum of the pedals. It was as if whip skidding actually made us go faster, thus making us more cutty.’
