  • Well that was intense. Shenanigans aside there were some some moments of brilliance from Max over the entire weekend but i think the result was correct and reflects that the better driver (on the day) took the win. Not so easy for Lewis to look good when you're main opponent is rewriting the rules but it was a monster drive and to be honest i'm fairly happy Max is making his life tough atm.

I'd like to think I'm relatively unbiased (sure, I'd rather someone other than Mercedes/Hamilton won at this point, though it's hard to effectively be willing on someone who's pretty regularly resorting to Senna/Schumacher-esque running people off track). But watching Max come out on Friday on a track that no ones raced on and be full-commitment from the word go, and that final lap in Q3. Those were pretty damn awesome to watch.

I'm not really surprised that Max has started pushing his luck even further since Brazil, it's become pretty apparent (IMO) that Mercedes have really upped their game (whether it's the new engine, or the fancy wing, or whatever), and sees the title slipping away. And while it's not pretty to watch, it's not exactly surprising that it's happening. Last time we had a last-race decider we had Hamilton intentionally slowing down to try to back Rosberg up into Vettel & Verstappen. Was it dirty, damn right. Was it surprising? I'd say not really.
