  • I've forgotten the year, and Flickr is telling me (wrongly) 2007
    Think it was 2009/10
I need to rebuild this exactly as it was.

Can confirm- built in early 2010.

    Miss you @StandardPractice x

  • you where way ahead!

  • Luckily- it is still in the basement. Just needs rebuilding. And a rust assessment.

  • would love to see it being ridden one day. you did a little tour on it?

  • A few. Mostly "microadventures" back in the day.
Not sure I ever loved Fixed touring.

  • think my vaya qualifies. not sure about my 2017 renegade though. 15mm ta and post mount cable operated hydros w/ road gearing that i was always grinding.

  • that is like hhsegbf

  • couple of readers.

genesis equilibrium 2015 with 33mm schwalbe one knobblies squeezed in.
frame still owned but currently unbuilt.

the kepler is now in 'commute' build with rack/guards/paselas but tempted to go flat bar and 1x with big tyres for the summer as i no longer commute anywhere.

  • These bikes are a million times more aesthetically pleasing than newer gravel monstrosities.

  • scoble had that jamis for a few mins too i think.

  • At your service:

    (Circa 2013)

  • v twins were worse than canti

  • I am loathed to agree, I should have used BB7's

  • pics anywhere? this one got stolen twice :(

  • Is there anything more EGBF than "squeezing in" 33c tyres?

  • 35c is a pretty happy medium. Good thread.

  • this has everything

  • some lovely bikes being posted, we really appreciate the conservation efforts everyone is making.

So much so the increased profile of our cause has helped us secure some extra funding from a wealthy benefactor, we've decided to use this section of funding on allowing the preservation of rim brake models. now it's not a bottomless pit, so please, try not to post your canti brake cross bikes, we're really looking for unique steel frames with unusually large clearances for their age which abide to the the EGBF spirit.

    touring focused
    non race ready
    uncomfortably tight clearances
    minimal rackmounts
    mudguardmounts
    between 2010-2017
    Steel

ultimately however, please keep digging out those 4130 discbrake bikes, they're really great to see, even better to see them still being ridden

    kind regards

    EGBF management team

  • Bought this frame from @stedlocks. Fits 35s if you don't pedal out of the saddle. A touring bike without racks or bottle cages, a commuter without mudguards. Did some of my favourite ever rides on this bike though, ride quality was 'like butter'.

  • Was looking at this thread again

(Simple 30-38c all road bikes are IN next season amongst the niche internet micro influencers imo, the idea of “having a bike which just works, gets you about, no faff, discreet and easy to run after a couple of years faffing with old standards, cantis, different wheel sizes and swept back bar angles. One is left just wanting to churn miles with some good friends and maybe travel some distance in ease, having tried to haul their 26r crust wagon down the a212 in the dark winter nights covered in mud”)

    Really bangs

  • Also want the canti version of this, rediscovered it on my eBay // google hole looking for all steel canti cross boiled which just don’t seem to exist for some reason?? They never turn up, touring bikes 10 a penny but would like a “cross bike” and all that marketing jargon involves.

along with the old steel Swiss cross, impossible to find tho
