Anyone heard of Brooks saddle rails snapping if not fitted in a side clamp seat post (as opposed to a top and bottom clamp)?
Trying to fit a lush old silver railed B17 to my current audax project and have been told that not using the old style side clamp post WILL result on the rails snapping.
I have been using a B17 with top and bottom clamp for a number of years in all weathers but am told it is only a matter of time.
Any thoughts??

Same. Also used their sprung saddles with vertical clamp post with no bother (even though they aren't exactly designed for it, with the double rails). I wouldn't worry.
