Anyone have experience of the "maximum value" cover on bolt on home insurance policies? I just added cheap pedal cover to my JL home insurance which gives me a replacement up to the value of £500 on any bike nicked outside the house. Not much good for our nicer bikes but thinking for £15 a year it's worth it for our commuters that occasionally get locked up.
I haven't had the paper work through yet but i'm assuming i would have to give them proof of the value of the nicked bike and then they'll provide me with a new bike worth up to £500? As they're not specialist bike insurers valuation might be tricky as these are non OTP builds so i'll take photos of all the parts that can be priced. Not exactly a great choice out there at £500 but i'm guessing people take the best bike they can get with these kind of policies then flip them to get some cash toward a new build?
