Just check with whatever company you get an oven from that they don't test them in the factory with meat otherwise could get quite complicated :p :p
£200 for a new oven is quite low, would steer clear of the argo's cheapy brands, they work until they don't work and you can't get parts for them, so a simple switch/thermostat/element going = bin which is pretty terrible.

Don't get me wrong there are difficult aspects of installing a kitchen but setting up, plumbing and levelling the carcasses is not one of them (floor standing units at least, wall hung is slightly different) - of course there will be people who are unable to do it as some people just aren't practical. Plus someone who is DIY installing kitchens isn't trying to make money so they have the luxery of not having to worry about speed.
I have in the past advised clients who are running short of money that a good way to make a saving is to install the carcasses for their kitchens themselves and once they've done that I can come in and do the worktops, install handles and drawerfronts etc i.e the skilled tricky stuff where there is a one shot opportunity to get it right.

Might be interested in 1 pending details/pics!

I wouldn't bother, it's unlikely anyone will ever challenge it.
This. Don't kick the nest. The longer it's left, the more likely it is they'll be treated as having waived the breach or right to forfeit.

Never mind the sanitary ware with all that undigested meat lodged in the crevices...

Can anyone who has carpets that they're happy with let me see a picture?
We're thinking of getting carpet upstairs but I can't get excited about it, and I can't imagine any of them looking good from the small swatches in shops. But I know they can do.
It apparently can't be Berber-style, even though they're the only ones I've been mildly interested in, because we have cats who love flexing their claws and they've got really stuck into the outgoing loop-pile carpet.

Not yet, we aim to get kitchen done in the new year, at the moment we’re barely using it as we use hobs.

Well, I'm getting my kitchen done in the new year too and will be needing a new oven mid-Feb? If that might work for you send pics and details asap as I'll need to make a call reasonably soon between second hand and just ordering new... cheers

Lifted some floorboards today to put new flooring and new radiator in.
The copper pipes in a fairly short section appear to have very bright blue corrosion coating. Never seen such a bright blue! Green-ish yes, but never this. Is my house going to fall down? Do I do anything? Or put new flooring down and forget after a few months?
The pipes were wrapped in loft type insulation as most of the floor has it wedged underneath (battens over concrete sub floor)

Blue = humid I believe, like steel go brown when rusted
Edit; found this via Google;
The reason that the color changes is that a chemical compound of copper is formed. Copper itself is a metallic element. Compounds of elements can have totally different properties than the elements themselves (e.g. look at hydrogen and oxygen, these are gasses at room temperature, while the compound water, made of both elements is a liquid at room temperature).
A similar thing you see with iron. When iron is oxidized, then rust is formed, which is brown. This is a mixed oxide/hydroxide of iron (III).

Could be flux left on the pipe, clean it with some steel wool and dont worry about it.

Not to everyone’s taste I will admit
It was there when we moved in and I failed to persuade my husband it was worth pulling it all up and sanding the boards when we had a “perfectly good” carpet, so I decorated round it. It’s kind of grown on me now.
Mind, it was originally not just the bedroom but also the landing and the stairs, which are open plan to the living room. That was definitely a statement feature.

God imagine coming home pissed and having to navigate your way up stairs with that carpet. Almost enough to guarantee quick dash to the bog for a technicolour yodel.

Getting ready to lay plywood subfloor, and found the 'newer' joists are 25mm off level from the original half a tree trunk joists.
No wonder it felt like I was on tiptoes when taking a piss. That's 25mm over 2150mm. It's flat, just not level.

Nice job!
Where did you get those fireplace hearth tiles from? -

I wish I had a picture of the bedroom before we painted it. Two walls were raspberry red and two were sandy orange. The woodwork was all mahogany stain. All with that carpet. Oh, and an artex swirl ceiling. You really don’t want to look at artex swirls when you’re a bit pissed.

The large grey ones online somewhere. I think we have 12 left over as I comically overestimated. The small orange mosaic tiles around the edge are from an amazing mosaic shop in West Norwood.
It is very clean, but I'm not gonna argue if she want a new oven, we only need one, not two that the flat come with.
Anyone want a very clean set of Bosch oven for like £100? (electric)
