  • inserts obligatory Tomac comment

  • do you know how incredibly hard it is to capture the image before running into cyclingtips paywall you n00b?!?!?

  • the KAW bike. can't say i like it, can't say i don't.

  • The orange granny ring and wonky chainring sicken me.

That's before you get to the post and the bars and shifters.

    Warm up the flamethrowers.

  • I think I'd take it over a create/goku or similar with less tyre clearance. I feel like these cheap bikes that don't have gears can maybe be worth it in the long run if users upgrade the parts as they die 🤷🏽‍♂️

  • That's the thing, that B'twin cost £70 new, once it booked in for a service, it's cheaper to get a new bike instead.

  • Some owners did upgrade them and ended up with something OK and useable, for a reasonnable overall budget.

I was about to say enough with the BTwin thread hijacking and but then remembered it is the gravel thread, like a good recycling centre anything can be dumped here without a guilty thought.

  • Does a £70 bike work at all? That seems close to the cost of materials. Forget design, shipping, assembly, etc...

  • Does a £70 bike work at all?

    Yes, at first.

A £200 bike with alleged suspension can stand up to Sam Pilgrim for a little while:

  • Oh that's still under budget and they were able to make a profit.

Don't forget at cost it is much cheaper, before trade and then retail.

  • can stand up to Sam Pilgrim for a little while

Impressive. I can manage about 0.001 seconds of him before I throw my laptop out of the window

  • Ha, pretty normal reaction

  • I totally get that, but I'd suggest to the customer that it's worth upgrading brakes/wheels etc as they wear out rather than spending another 70 quid and adding to landfill. I also totally understand that this is hard to convince people of, but it gotta try, they've already got the first bike

  • And they can get that plush smooth ride over a goku/create with deep section 700c + 23c 😅

  • Every time I hear his name I crave a Monster

  • can't believe ur posting this content for free. what am I paying my ameyfans sub for

considering taking my £££ to scoblefans or hippyfans instead

  • , but I'd suggest to the customer that it's worth upgrading brakes/wheels etc as they wear out rather than spending another 70 quid and adding to landfill.

I did tried that, a pair of decent Shimano brake plus labour still cost more than the bike (£40 brakes, £40 Labour).

  • Yeah, and I can understand that people can't afford to change everything at once, but it's worth going for even a smaller upgrade for those people. Maybe something aluminium tektro over the pressed steel ones they come with would be an upgrade.

  • That is true, it is entirely possible to make the brakes feel better with simply tweaking and maybe cable/housing.

Ultimately when I had that in my workshop a dozen of times, only one were approved and that's just the rear tyres.

  • Is this a tea towel holder under the downtube?

  • Am I still allowed to mock handlebar setups?

  • Christ, you spend all that money on a frame then do that to it.

If I was Seven, I'd ask for it back.

  • Looking at the handlebar, it look very long which explain the short stem.
