I might take my vinyl to the UK next year so a) I can play it and b) I can play it on my dad's turntable and see him combust with fury that someone is playing music written after 1750.

Same. Lots of other sensible options out there but Android will not allow you to set them as the default media players, so useless in the car. So fucking irritating.

suppose it's an opportunity for people to show everyone how cool and edgy their musical taste is without putting in any actual effort. possibly also a massive phishing enterprise.

Because some people are desperate for others to think they are cool so believe that by sharing all of their hip or ironic listening choices, others will raise them up in their estimation. Then, others who want to show how cool THEY are give out about people over sharing because they would never stoop so low to do the same.

I don't mind Spotify works well. For streaming. I use bandcamp beat port and juno for digital stuff. Bandcamp is great and I need to get back on it. I've let spoityfy edge in a bit too much recently.

You can port your google music library over to Youtube music.
It is under:
Library > (Albums/ Songs/ Whatever) > uploads (this is your previous library)
YT music is the pay-for / ad-filled service, uploads is your old stuff

Get some strips of stick on labels and create a barcode system. One of these passports is nine and I can easily tell which. Get more creative with the patterns and you can tell loads apart.
