Roughly 100k with about 2000m climb.

Think I'm going to ditch the mudguards and fit some lighter tyres for this one.

I'm up for this. I live in Buxton and ride fixed all the time in Peak District.
Macclesfield is good town to start from ....up the Cat and Fiddle climb then into Peaks. I know dozens of good routes......I use 70 inch and 66 inch fixed.

We have 5 booked on the train from London. Attempted to organise staying the night in Sheffield but bike reservations on Sunday weren't playing ball. We have all the bike reservations for the London services we're using (soz). Time for a list I guess...

That’d get you fit
Does this have to be done fixed? I’d be tempted to get train over from Marple, but I’d be on cross

The ride back was seriously considered...
Missing YAL. Hope you're doing ok!

Does this have to be done fixed?
I could give a nuanced answer. And I'm no ride organiser.
But yes.

If I'm about, due to current health and achilles issues, I won't be on fixed. I will be riding at the back and doing any rushing around that's needed so I have my justification. If you're going to bring a cross bike, especially with some cross tyres, you may get volunteered for a bit of cross country work to get some nice action shots of the suffering.

Maybe it's early, maybe it feels like autumn or maybe I'm bored at work.
Any interest in another go at this early 2022?

Yes!

• #114
Lets say yes.
-
• #115
Hell yes!
I was up on the weekend with gears and it was awesome. Both Sheffield and Maccy seemed equally awkward to get to, depending on the train time.
What I didn't get to do was Pott Shrigley over to Errwood Hall and down to Cat and Fiddle which looked gorgeous

I'd be up for it. Geared though as I don't own a sick fixie or a ss.

Get Winston to make you one. If you can get hold of him. He seems to have disappeared.
-
• #118
Really? Maybe he's on holiday or summat.
Don't think I'll be having a bike made for one ride, and to be honest when I did try fixed I hated it, although a ss would make a nice low maintenance commuter! -

Might do it on gears again and get dropped again

I've posted up a placeholder event for next year. Let's get planning
https://www.lfgss.com/events/6715/
I've done it a bunch of times on a road bike. Last pass was up in November on a well laden bike and its currently 95-98% rideable depending on general riding skill. Riders may end up walking more of Winnats (or cutting to the top to provide a cheering committee) and its an interesting bit of routing that visitors to the area often miss out on.
I've already suggested a few so I'm not going to do any more. Whatever route gets decided on, I'm happy to offer general guiding, technical, back-marking services etc for the day.
