  • You know, I'd rather roast my own beans than switch to V60/Chemex. If I switch to pour over then I'll convince myself I need a gooseneck kettle, I'll spend time working on pouring techniques, when to bloom, when to swirl. I'd rather spend that time trying roasting.

Not going to happen while I live in a flat though, also I think I've got enough time sucking hobbies already!!

  • For a long time I was a die-hard v60 fanboy, brewed twice a day with the Hoffman method, Svart grinder, gooseneck temperature controlled kettle, concisely timed pouring technique, the whole 9 yards. Then I switched back to aeropress one day because I'd run out of filters and now every time I make a v60 brew it tastes watery and flavourless in comparison. Haven't touched my v60 in almost a year now

  • This what I don't want to turn into. I feel like I'm bad enough with his french press method.

  • The Aeropress is a total coffee gadget acquisition syndrome killer, I use it six days out of seven, I might pull a shot of espresso twice/three times a week, haven't used the Clever Dripper in months and haven't touched my old faithful Moka pot since I refurbished it last year... It's the king of coffee setups... IMVHO, obvs...

  • I'm the opposite, I find the aeropress always leans toward over-extracted, heavy and silty coffee. I even find the Kalita Wave worse than the V60. I do V60 mostly now as I can't be arsed with espresso too.
