• Looking for some large road rubber for winter riding on the Open.
The 60mm Mezcals are lovely and all but 100kms on them gets a bit slow….

Let me know what you’ve got - need to be as good / as new a condition as possible

    Thanks

  • I've got a pair of 4 seasons in 32 I'm thinking of changing if they're of interest.

  • Appreciate the offer, were it to be contis it’d have to be GP5000s

  • New pair of folding Corratec 40mm that come up 38mm when fitted, pretty lightweight at 395g, I'd bought two pair when I built my Sirrus carbon Ltd into a 'gravel' bike, on tarmac they really felt like I was floating compared to other tyres (and I've used plenty of high end stuff incl wide tubs) it sort of felt slow because of the effort I wasn't putting in and the feel, but when I checked my computer it was telling me I was going plenty fast enough.
However I wanted something with a tread pattern so I could go on rougher terrain (so fitted Conti Speed Kings)
    £35 posted the pair

  • I've got Hutchinson Overide in 35mm. Used, but will roll on just fine.

  • Thank you for responses - really looking for the same kind of calibre as GP5000s etc in large volume

  • I'd say the tyre is at least the equal but then then without trying you'll never know ;o)

  • I getcha mate - but at 100g heavier a piece and much larger volume, before we look at the aesthetics, I’ll hold out for something a little closer to / a pair of GP5000s

  • Hey in case it’s useful, Mantel have GP5000s on sale at the moment https://www.mantel.com/uk/continental-grand-prix-5000-tyre&spec%5B%5D=285 Looks like they’ve got 32s in black for £33. I’d not ordered from them since Brexit but just bought some 28s the other day (they’ve not arrived yet so still potential to go wrong I suppose!) £10 for shipping but even so quite a good deal.

  • This was an excellent spot - thank you

I used to use Mantel quite religiously as their prices always beat most, however since the brainless majority of the British population voted for brexit and ruined life for everyone else, most excellent companies like mantel, Bike24 etc were flatly refusing to service British orders.

I’d probably do the same tbh. Who wants to be associated with idiocy….

…good news however that they’re very cleverly offering orders up to £135 to avoid another scourge of brexit related bullshit in the form of duty and import.

    Fucking brexit.
    Twats.

  • No worries! Yeah I’d assumed ordering bike parts from Europe was done for since stupid Brexit. Didn’t realise this £135 limit to avoid import duty was a thing
