Someone with an entry :)

I find it pretty easy to ignore most. There's a rare few that stick out to me as 'must dos'.

Has no-one noticed that the ferries both go the wrong way?
It's the race that will never finish! :)

Maybe they are using the old Isle of Wight ferries?

I predict a high disqualification rate!

"I was there before it got all commercial, man"
-
• #4835
Amazing. Shows what is fashionable nowadays. Unsurprisingly, a lot more people can do slightly shorter events.

It was you that made it go commercial! Hippy the super-influencer...

Your saddle's nickname?

Most of my saddles are called something like "blender", "cheese grater", "death seat", "argh" etc

Makes you wonder if Audax is growing massively - long time since I did one.
-
• #4841
I've done 5 since the season started in Nov. Presumably AUK has stats on membership numbers, etc.

Auwhat? Or auwho?
Someone link their ig? -

There's literally a graph about this on their website:
http://www.aukweb.net/results/statistics/detail/memgrowth/2021 - 8550 members

Ah, good reminder, my AUK membership expires at the end of this year.
...just renewed it for another 5 years. Might even do another Audax soon. Last one was, blimey, October 2017.

Seeing a growing trend here in Ireland for supported ultra events(Donegal 555, Wild Mayo Ultra 600) now adding an unsupported section which is great for riders like myself.
Problem is they charge more for the unsupported than the supported. Donegal 555 is €275 Vs €330 respectively.
I questioned the Mayo guys re pricing and they came back at me saying the unsupported need more help than supported which I can't see as true as unsupported have no vehicle or crew paperwork to deal with.
Is it unreasonable to be annoyed at their pricing structures or a good arguement against it?

Given the prices of audaxes, it's a bit steep.

• #4847
unsupported need more help than supported
-
• #4848
So they want to charge you more for a GPX and a pat on the back?
-
• #4849
Even the "supported" option requires you to bring your own support car with two adults per cyclist/team. And pay £275 for the privilege. What a ridiculous "cycling" event.
