  • not sure what has been reported is entirely accurate, its more likely fishermen et al getting annoyed at this rather than a mob of Neo nazis. my dad lives in that part of the world and is part of the rnli/coastguard/fisherman community and there has been a sentiment amongst a lot of people that these services are run by volunteers and largely paid for by charity and was always meant for seafarers. lives lost by these volunteers is historically a very sore subject and there is a feeling that this should be paid for and attended to by the government and not having locals drop everything to do it for them.

    they totally get people need saving, so they go and do it. but its getting quite out of hand for these stations. even when I have gone to visit over a couple days you see the boats and helicopters out, which isnt normal and someone is having to do this, local people dropping everything at any time of the day to risk their lives in a voluntary capacity.
