I drove my car out my driveway one day years ago and found the neighbours cat in a poor state in middle of’t road. Decided to do the decent thing and wrap it up in a towel and take it round to her. She said it had a habit of sleeping between parked cars this day I have no idea if she thought I had done it and her explanation was a way of saying “I forgive you”.
