  • I'd say kill it with fire but there is a possibility it contains asbestos so may not work.

    Getting a decent plasterer to skim it is the easiest but not necessarily cheapest way to sort it.

    But seriously, I thought the asbestos stuff was popcorn style. This is much more "decorative" (is even on the inside of the window sill) and is only in one room.

  • My understanding is the asbestos was a binding agent to hold texture so it could be any style.

  • The azzy content will depend on its age.

    Using asbestos in building became illegal in 2000 so if it was put up post that you'll be ok and can do what you want. There are products available that chemically soften the finish letting you remove it when it's damp therefore eliminating dust personally I wouldn't risk it in my house (at least not without air quality monitoring) but the option is there. Best practice is to skim or board over it.
