I am more than delighted 😀

Wow, they look great. Cheaper than sending them back to Red Wing and you didn't have to wait for 3 months!

Indeed and the midsole replacement has made them feel like slippers.
It’s the third resold in 5 years, previously done via redwings and 3 months sounds about right, this time it was 6 days. -

Being too cheap to get a pair of Danners or Diemmes or similar kind of sucks.
But getting a pair of hand me downs that dad bought used, but didn't get on with is cool.
I don't know the brand, Höck, but they ar double welted, heavy, handmade, and probably even properer than the above brands.
I gave them a good clean, oiling and blue laces in the hope that it would give a slightly more contemporary urban feel.

Advise for making old black rubber vibram outsoles black again?
Marker pen? Liquid silicone? -
• #8157
yeah liquid silicone, shoe polish? I wouldn't bother with a marker pen as it might look purple etc...

In other news I'm selling some proper leather shoes, will update and maybe put a sales thread together but I've got brown C&J Onslow in uk9.5, snuff suede Loake Anglesey boots in a uk10, J Crew Kenton (Alden Indy copies) in uk10 and some Sanders Creepers (Joel Low) in uk10 - let me know if any are of interest!

I have a pair of Trickers Malton that I don't wear any more so up for sale.
Size 10.5.
They are probably 20 years old but have been well looked after. Currently have Dainite sole / heel . Sole has a lot of life / heel 1 maybe 2 seasons left.
For full disclosure some breaking of the surface leather on both outer ball areas. Have also been relined / reinforced internally at the heel by a good cobbler (Peters Traditional Footwear Specialist, York)
Anyone interested at £60 plus buyer pays postage?

Vaseline? You’re only trying to get the sides back to black right? I’d start with all the standard household stuff… olive oil?
-
• #8164
I tried the same leather oil that I gave the uppers so I think that oil based stuff maybe isn't working.
I think I used the have a silicone spray somewhere. -
• #8165
Liquid silicone appear to be doing the trick.

It finally happened, critical mass of leather shoes. I have something in the post so these Trickers are for sale, P&P included, 10% to the forum coffers.
Trickers Lancaster Derby, Dark Brown, Size 9, width 5 (standard).
Panic bought at the sample sale a while back, worn maybe five times because I’m a 10/9.5 at best. Condition as the photos, no scuffs or nicks, including bags and original box. Looking to recoup at £130. If no interest by the end of the week I’ll remove this spam and eBay, thanks.

And my new (old) boots arrived this morning, Trickers Grassmere clodhoppers which will hopefully satiate the full grain leather lust.

They're lovely, I've been really enjoying my Tricker's, they fit so well, my poor Loake Chelsea boots haven't been getting a look in recently!
-
• #8170
They’re seriously well made, I feel a bit military today. Did the ones you bought off here arrive already?
-
• #8171
Yeah, I've been wearing them for a couple of weeks... Love 'em!

Do any boot manufacturers use softer leather than others?
I have a bone spur on my heel and it makes buying proper leather shoes/boots a nightmare because of the initial break in period, blisters, pain etc etc

@>>>>>>
Looking good, I hope you’re wearing board shorts too. -
• #8174
I've got a pair of Alden Indy boots in suede. Soft as, super comfy compared to anything else 'proper' I have
Either go suede, or try shoes with softer leather, perhaps alden chukkas?
£££ though

Looking great - glad they made it!
Thanks for this btw. I'll bookmark that page and try and get up there next year I think.
