Charlton - Plymouth on Saturday, Plymouth brought 3,500 which was a decent effort. Charlton were giving away free tickets to season ticket holders so there was about 25k there. Standard of football was decent too, two teams playing passing football. Plenty of beers. 8/10

Huge season defining game tomorrow. Chelsea must beat Juventus by two clear goals (and then go on to beat Zenit St Petersburg in the away game).

French football is one hell of a mess, starting with Eric Abidal

That whole attack on Hamraoui is horrible. Also there has been so much crowd trouble recently.

The Sheriff to MU ?
Would he be the interim before they can land someone big like Steve Bruce, Big Sam or Brendan Rodgers?
-
• #159485
Pochettino to United and Zidane to PSG makes a lot of sense, for all involved.

The other members of the no nonsense RoN Manager guild seem to have been forgotten behind Allerdici..
Namely Purdew and Pulis. The no nonsense Scottish manager de jour is of course Steve Clarke.
My hope is that BR goes to OT. A man who has widened my textual analysis of soccer. The Tom Paulin of the post match interview.

That Moyes chap at West Ham has been doing a great job, can't see why he wouldn't be in the frame.
-

Moyes is a really great example of being given time. The big clubs want someone to come in and make an immediate impact but, given time, good quality managers will rebuild a club and do more with less.
Good luck getting United to give someone a few years to change things though...

Ha - I was responding to your final point ("good luck getting Utd to give someone a few years") rather than whether or not OS had rebuilt the club...

A good point, well made :')
Maybe I need to add "again"...

It's a fair point. Ole got time because he was a club legend and the fans liked (loved?) him. Moyes was drinking from the most poisoned chalice in club football taking over from a man of Surralex's pedigree and inheriting a (frankly pretty poor) squad of big time charlies who all thought he was beneath them. The fans largely thought he was beneath them as well which is why it went south so much when the results were poor.
Ferguson was a genius to coax that last league championship out of them. Had the benefit of a few of the top teams being in enough of a state of flux to not really put enough pressure on him but that season they won a lot of games by the odd goal, often very late on. The team really wasn't that good. It was pure belief and Ferguson. He quit at the best possible time for his own reputation, and maybe the worst possible time for a successful transition of manager. Whoever took that job on was always going to have very little room for poor results.
