I'll be on a singlespeed with knobby tyres aka I'll be walking.
Oh the Eastbourne route doesn't hit that so no bother.
RWGPS only says 16%. Lies!

• #11053
of yeh i remember that. shudders.

This is your return route, reversed and joined to the modified Shark to Eastbourne...
Total Distance: 149.6 km
Total Climbing: 2028 m
AAA Climbing: 1945 m
AAA Start: 16.6 km
AAA Distance: 132.4 km
AAA Points: 2So, it adds 10k but gets another .25 points (and might be a bit less shit, as it's further from London)

But then, using that route, I can remove the gratuitous Birling head finish hills and route direct and save 20k but still get 1.75AAA...
This looks like the best bang for buck, remembering I'm going to be on a knobby-tyred, dual-suspension SS.

and if you want a flat white in catford

• #11057
Cool - but why not take one of your better bikes?
-
• #11058
Because I'm delivering the bike in question to someone in Eastbourne and getting the train back and I thought I'd get some points while I'm at it.

• #11059
OK. Good reminder that however daft something sounds, there's always a reason why things are the way they are.

My original plan was to ride the KAW on it as a final hurrah and then donate it to a charity. This way, someone who really wants a Kona A gets it, they're paying me so I will donate cashmoney to said charity and I get some AAA points for my audaxy stuff.
I have very little motivation for riding around here so any "missions" I can create are a good way to get out of the house and not do AFTS (another turbo session) -
• #11061
Sure, a one way ride from home is more fun than a loop any day. And don't even need to worry about bikesontrains.
Trying to remember what KAW is...Got it, King Alfred!
I saw that Shell had done it in two days the other day, which made me think. But he is ultra experienced off-road while I am pretty novice. So I quickly thought better of it. Not before I saw some guy had done it in one day - but that was in the summer so lots of daylight.
And its OT. -

Did Cambrian 1K and the reverse route on the weekend.
Anyone got any good AAA rides in/near Leeds?
-
• #11063
Chris Crossland's rides/perms start from Hebden Bridge. Several have AAA points and as short as 50km. Bit of pain tracking down GPX files, but probably worth it.
This also passes close to Leeds and I assume would earn a few points. One of @TheBonk (and co.)'s routes: https://www.audaxclubsheffield.co.uk/RWOAP

Cheers.
Looking for shorter stuff, under 200k, so we can do a ride, have dinner somewhere and do another one next day. Chris Crossland has loads of Perms.
Mellow Fruitfulness might be what you're thinking of. 1.25 points, 50km:

Yeah, Season of Mists and Mellow Fruitfullness are the ones I was thinking of.
FWIW there's both Vocation and Little Valley breweries near there start.

I can get behind this.
Now, I need to see if getting to Leeds with bikes, on a train, is actually possible or if I need to fire up the Hummer again.

Did Cambrian 1K and the reverse route on the weekend.
2000km in a weekend, that's good going! Or did I not understand what the reverse route is?
-
• #11068
"Cambrian 1K" is its name in the series, ie. Cambrian 1A, 1B, 1C for 100km rides, 2A, 2B for 200km rides, etc.
So, it was 2x100km rides (easy) with 2500m climbing each day (less easy). 2000km in a weekend would've broken all kinds of records...
-
• #11069
Ah, that sounds a bit more achievable. Still a good weekend though!
-
• #11070
300-350m climbing for the 200k today.
-
• #11071
what does that feel like?
-
• #11072
That little climbing gives me a sore arse, especially on fixed. Little or no chance of getting out of the saddle.
-
• #11073
133k and >1500m of climbing on today's DIY 100. I made it "moar funner" but riding it on a Kona A singlespeed MTB. Quite surprised I actually rode every climb, it was properly like lifting weights for some of them (Saltbox Hill rings a bell). My back is not going to like me tomorrow..

Not ideal on 1 x 11-34 in peloton.

Do you know if there's a map showing (roughly) where all the rides in the series go?
Good.
You can probably improve it slightly by finding another way to get from Ealing to Brasted that doesn't go via Greenwich that is both hillier and shorter. Maybe the second half of my route might do it?
