• The good lady has a condition. She is not comfortable on a bike

Recommend me a super pressure-relieving saddle? I’d love to get her out on the road with me again.

  • Just to be clear, sit bones are fine.

  • Guessing it’s for a road bike? A Dutch style bike would be less pressure on the fragile foof.

Wide with a short nose and cut-out might work too. Will think about specific models.

  • Actually a Boardman mountain bike (pro? About four years old but a nice ride). I’ve got a charge spoon on it at the moment, but she can’t deal with it.

In other news - amazing to see so many of the same names on here after so many years away!

  • Any advice really welcome.

  • Selle italia diva gel flow? parter needed a saddle for her first proper road bike and after a bit or research was recommended by many so decided to try .
no complaints so far, she bought another one in the CRC sale for an older bike as its better than the huge padded saddle it came with.
think. they come in 2 widths.

  • Missus has this one on her bikes, as long as you know sit bone width you can figure out which size of saddle you need.

You can still find them secondhand or online. Or you can have a search on the specialized store to find out what their replacement for it is.

Or have a read through the last couple of pages here for other alternatives from the women on the forum

  • Ladies in the club have the diva gel and rate them . My girlfriend says the brooks c15 cut out is the best saddle she has ever had . Silly price now.

  • My wife uses a Brooks c17s carved on Brompton, Specialized road something for road and a charge ladle on her mtb

  • I don't know anything about ladies saddles, sorry. I just came to say 'thank you' for introducing me to a new word.

  • Diva flow was terrible for my foof.

Definitely recommend a short fit saddle with a cut out, I rate the specialised power saddles, they are great. They come in a few variations of rail material which affects the price obviously but the saddle shape is similar across the ranges.

  • I think the Specialized power saddles come in a mimic line, which has a groove rather than an full cutout, especially for women. The marketing blurb goes into more intimate detail but made logical sense for female specific anatomy. I had saddle pain (male) for a long time but following a couple of bike fits am very pleased with my phenom (long nose power). Worth trying different widths too to make sure the pressure is being put in the right places (I’m slim but am on a slightly wider saddle). Good luck!

  • My partner had similar issues and we got her this, a specialized sonoma, which she says is really comfy.

  • Hi I use a Brooks c15 cut out on my commuter and the specialised for touring I’d be happy for you to try either one if that might help

  • My friend got one of the Specialized Power Mimic's recently, it has revolutionised her comfort. They go for ~£60 on eBay quite frequently

  • I mentioned to my missus that I think they maybe the replacement for the lithia gel, so bookmarked them in case she needs a replacement saddle.
The lithia’s are getting scarce secondhand in the right width..

  • Nice one! Thank you all.
