That was brilliant!

Fuck, and we even won it outright in the end.
Europe were amazing, but the US have to ask themselves how they ended up with 3.5 points out of 12 on the last day

^ arrogance & complacency on the US part

Don't normally care about golf but thought it'd only be fair to give the cup a view before judging it.
Watching the highlights on the beeb atm. Not swayed yet, am I missing something? When does it get interesting? -

Managed to avoid all mention of this yesterday by going for a big ride and getting drunk. Then I watched the highlights like a boss with a whiskey.
Good day all round really.

If hell is other people, golf's your mother-in-law.
On a Masters highlights binge regardless.

Dredge.....
I'm no golfist, but I do like the Ryder Cup.

Same here. I’ve been to the Open once and it was full of bellends wearing full golf kit. Yeah - you might get a game lads.
The USA USA USA fans are the absolute pits.
But the Ryder Cup is hard to beat for sporting tension.

Any golfing advice for a newbie. I went to the driving range tonight first time in years. Really enjoyed it so I think I’m going to try a 9 hole course.
My accuracy is shocking. And it’s 50/50 if I even hit the ball. Other than the driving range is there any way to improve my swing?

A lesson with a coach?

Buy more expensive clubs.
-

I got some clubs of Freecycle. They’ll do for now.
Lesson sounds like a good shout. Would you have to be a member at a club for that?
-

Most driving ranges will offer lessons!

Does anyone here play local to London, looking for a decent course to play within an hour of London
-
• #93
No-one who’s going to admit it.

Wimbledon common used to be ok -quite a challenging course.
Its now £40 for a round!
We used to put a red top on and sneak for a round…start somewhere mid course. Not saying anyone should do that now.Richmond park is slightly better value at 30 and also not bad from memory.
I haven’t played for a long time, mind. -

Who was the golfist on Today on Radio 4 this morning who, when talking about this new Saudi-backed event, said he thought it was fine for professional golfists "to make a killing" and participate?
Someone needs PR training.
-

This is why one of them needs to participate
$40 mil in gambling losses. Fucking hell.

$40 mil in gambling losses. Fucking hell.
Apparently it was closer to a billion.
I know nobody posts here because of fear of the GC thread, but I usually follow golf for one day every 2 years in the hope of seeing the Americans smashed up on the last day of the Ryder Cup. This year, they're trying to spoil even that by losing every single game so it won't even reach the last day. The world's best player just lost 9 and fucking 7 to a kid who turned pro in June...

Ryder Cup is by far the best golf.

If it was boxing the ref would've stopped it already.
Prediction: USA to win in a butt clenching thriller.
