• #8303
i literally ordered them for this reason, had to use it for a week but it w as either that or a week off nursery!

• #8304
winter marathons?
-
• #8305
yep, from wiggle, make sure you install them a week before you want to actually use them, the spikes need bedding in. They are amazing on the levels of ice/snow we get in London, dunno beyond that.

Madjax box the bullitt arrived today. Just need a bike to put it on!

Waiting for my madjax...

When did you order? Stu emailed me that mine was one of 3 he sent out so maybe yours will be one of them?
-
• #8309
Spotted you can get replacement stud's for these too. Have found long john bikes super stable in snow/icey ish conditions given a bit of weight in them with regular tyres, with proper winter tyres will be unstoppable*
*erm, not mean't to be a pun
-
• #8310
Whereas with no weight and regular tyres, they are somewhat liable to just disappear from under you 😂
-
• #8311
i've never ridden studs before, just wide tires on low pressure and it has been fine but with the kids on board (and my wife using the bike too) I just want to be sure
whatever speed/efficiency is lost through the studs, the battery makes up for hopefully.
@amey good tip about bedding them in, didn't know that. Is a function of time or distance that does it?

Last night....

Ha, nevermind.
I only ordered on the 9th though, he now gets the wood factory lacquered which massively speeds up the process, I was expecting 4 weeks but got it in 1.

Don’t get me started on Terns. They totally ruined a great product with the Gen2

Nice, you getting a bafang? I was looking online for a decent 2nd hand bullitt and really wanted to do the conversion myself but the realisation that with 2 babies I barely have time to go to the toilet nevermind tinker with bikes anymore, coupled with 2nd hand bullitts being rare as hens teeth atm led me to just getting an ebullitt from London Green Cycles (interest free credit cards ftw)

• #8320
I've missed the chat, but what's wrong with them?
-
• #8321
I am. I will be using Besbike as they can fit motor and battery etc etc for exactly the reasons (plus I'm shit with spanners) you give.
I'd love a tongsheng or similar torque sensor, but the frame and motor don't interface very well without angle grinder. -

Which one? If they've got stock just buy it, the future is looking even bleaker than the recent past in terms of cargo bike stocks. Right now your in mid summer for pretty much anything from anyone if they don't physically have it in their hands.
Had a few EP8's now and they are noice. Definite more power over the e6100, and a tad more than the e8000. But mostly just much quieter and a bit more efficient than previous.
Spec is all over the place though (goes for any mftr), every bike i've had/sold has been just a little bit different, could be brakes, could be shifters, even little items like seatpost clamps, stems, handlebars have been different from bike to bike. Not a lot you can do about it though

I have, ordered on the 9th. Went for an ep6 with gates belt drive, clockwork orange frame. They said 2 to 3 weeks for the frame to be sent over (depending on customs lottery). Don't mind waiting a bit as I don't really have anywhere to put it until the scaffolding in my front garden comes down so there's probably going to be an awkward few weeks of living room parking.

Yeah I tested one but tbh I thought it was too much and stopped it feeling like a bike, definitely makes sense if you're lugging huge loads around town but not for a couple of babies imo.

Make sure you never use the 'auto shift' function. Most decent shops know to disable it so that it can't even be turned on. On a regular bike you sort of get away with it, with a cargo it just results in a mashed IGH.
They should know how to set the steering too, when you get it make sure the front wheel can't go past its limit stop in either direction. And then enjoy! -
• #8325
Nice one, I didn't know you could disable the auto function. I tried it on one of the bikes I tested and it was absolutely mental, just constantly changing gear. I couldn't understand how anyone would enjoy riding like that?
Google image search finally worked. Here is another, though the Decal on the frame has a different name.

Okay, (thanks to Bing image search) it seems to be a Stroke Cargo Trike made by a Japanese company called Envision. There is an article in English with a link to a YouTube video, here:

I like the fact that it is actually a tilting trike.
