I've finished overhauling my Klampers for the first time since installing them last August. They cleaned up nicely enough for having over 9,600km of Seattle commuting on them.

The front was in far worse shape that the rear, which makes me think I should rotate them periodically. I'm still happy with them, though I may switch to hydros eventually.

Things are moving slowly at the fabricator's workshop; new ETA for getting the frame back is end of next week.

After I get it back I'll need to paint the exposed areas and build the new wheel, otherwise everything else has been cleaned up and is ready for install.

This should be so awesome once put together.
The shiny cranks will go nicely with the shiny brakes!

I met up with the fabricator today and he's just finalizing the fit of the dynamo guides - should have the frame back in the next couple of days!

Just picked up the frame and it looks fantastic! I'll post photos tomorrow when it's light out.

As mentioned, I brought the frame home last night, but unfortunately with the narrow window I have to get this thing rolling again, I wasn't able to take my own photos before moving ahead with spot treating the exposed areas. The fabricator who did the work has some nice detail shots on his IG if you're interested, including an awesome demonstration of the snap-in dynamo guides he made for this project.

For now, all I have is a sad shot taken during my scramble to get the exposed areas covered before work this morning. A drippy rattelcan paintjob is a bit anticlimactic, but I just don't have the funds for a proper on right now. Next year, hopefully...

The hub looks dramatically better without the black flange supports.

I was able to get the wheel laced up at home last night, but my truing stand is at work, so I had to take the wheel on my back for a nerve wracking 16km.

The wheel tensioned up nicely and the set is ready for the bike.

Good to hear, after the mileage you have put on them. I noticed what looked like surface rust in some photographs of used Klampers and I was surprised.

A few snapshots of the build yesterday. I got invited to a group ride last night so it was a rush to get it together.

About 85% done in this photo. I still had to do the dynamo wiring and install the bags.

"Done." I will likely go back and fine-tune a few things (Rear sections of housing are a little long and I forgot to remove the sleeves from the noodles at the shifter which is causing a bit of drag) but I put 30mi on it last night and it's been a real treat!

Thanks. That Wald basket comes drilled for mounting hardware so all you have to do is drill one more hole at the very bottom and bam!

I've put about 800km on it and it's been really lovely. I'd expected some drawbacks or a steeper learning curve, but it's really been just... easy.

Been thinking about how it compares to my previous 3x8 friction set up and I thought I'd share a comparison of the ratio if each gear.

There's definitely some lossiness in gears 1-7 as expected, which is why I elected to gear the Rohloff slightly lower than my 3x8.
