  • I wish Remembrance day and poppies were explicitly about remembering all war dead and injured, not focusing on armed forces, it would be more useful then as a reminder of the horrors of war.

    Wouldn't it be nice if the cenotaph events included representation from Germany, Japan etc too? Its not even 10o years yet I suppose but I'd hope that at some point in the future the remembrance activities became less nationalistic.

    Couldn't agree more. Didn't nearly three times as many civilians die in WW2 than combatants? The sooner these celebrations can be about the tragedy of war rather than the supposed heroism of those pulling triggers, the better.

  • Which is why the Peace Pledge Union have their ceremony each year.
