Millions of people wear a Poppy each November. some of them undoubtedly belong to the far-right, most of them, I would hope, do not.
Similarly, there will be people in Sweden who both eat Herring and belong to the far-right, but it would be ridiculous to condemn every Swedish Herring eater because of that.

Of all the thousands of stories I've read in newspapers over the years, this is still one of those that continues to affect me the most. Relevant to the present conversation, when it comes to symbolic action like Remembrance Day, you obviously have people who exploit it for their non-commendable ends, but you also have people like Olive Cooke.
I don't know about the position of Herring in Swedish society - this sounds interesting.
Does Sweden have a month long festival of Herring where every village puts up silhouettes of Herring on the village green, they knit Herring shaped covers for post boxes, and Swedish Gammon take en-masse to the comments sections of far-right media to froth about Swedish newsreaders having their Herring broach on the wrong lapel?
Has Herring become, essentially, a proxy for a far-right vision of being Swedish/another part of the Culture War?
