Most so-called natural monopolies have been assembled from diversely held private assets stolen from their rightful owners by communist governments, sometimes given a veneer of legitimacy by the payment of token compensation.

All providers* are a thin veneer over Openreach, which is the GPO with a new hat and lots of the same public service obligations, because fixed telecommunication networks are a natural monopoly and no amount of Thatcherite bollocks can change that.
