If governments grew balls and banned stupid sized cars we'd have a start. Then push the onus for waste onto the companies that generate the stuff in the first place and not the consumers, restrict production of stupid shit (single use items for one), stop subsidising stupid shit (i'm looking at you, fuel duty freeze of x years)
