  • Android Auto is fucking great. Google Maps on the car's built in screen is a revelation.

  • I looked at Fabia VRs' for a while but read that the DSG gearboxes shat themselves significantly quicker than usual for reasons unknown

  • Sounds like quite the pita but also quite a you story (sorry!! 🤣)

  • Skoda looks dece!

  • Gearbox issues are not something I would like. It’s a worry with some of the Audi ones too.

  • You wrote that just for the golf bat thread.

When I studied in Siena, i went to Montalcino festival for the harvest. I was amazing. Also learnt I have an uneducated palette.

  • Are you running a complete head unit or tablet.

  • So my stolen cat replacement continues, no Honda spares available (frv so not a big seller when new) but no matter as all in they’d be about £3k anyway. Pattern cat, mid pipe, sensors , etc and labour is going to be about a grand. FFS!

  • Often, people who don't buy them new, don't realise that the 6sp DSG is a wet clutch. This means it needs servicing and fluid changes at strict intervals. Miss an interval and that gearbox is going to die.

  • Oh god eBay sourced parts can be a nightmare. But then so can getting parts from ECP

Alot of garages also make money on the parts, difference between trade and retail. But the bigger protection is that the garage can get dodgy parts too but they have to cover the labour costs to replace.

  • Standard head unit, comes with Android Auto!

  • Often wondered why they put a wet clutch on a car, but then I wondered that about wet belts.

  • Sorry if I'm asking stoopid questions but does it need a SIM for mobile internet, or links to your phone.

  • It was a hack, they couldn't make the DSG smooth enough for normal users so they made it wet to allow it to be smoother.

  • You plug your phone in. It works like a 2nd screen for your phone rather than running as an Android tablet.

  • Oh, I niavily think these advancements but seems that they are ( hacks ) for NVH.

  • didnt know that about the superb boot being hatch-style. really nice

The amount of information out there is astonishing if you're prepared to find it. It's like the IMS bearing issues on 996's - a tiny percentage of them went south but all the failures are well documented. Didn't Nurse Snr have a 996?

  • Rumbled. I should have mentioned I drove there in the Aston Martin.

  • Cheers, might be wasted on me though as I know the square root of fuck all about wine!
    "Yeah lovely... very, erm... winey."

  • Could anyone please advise on the p0245 error I have on my 2017 Berlingo please?

Reading online suggets everything from clear the code and see if comes back to you're about to ruin your turbo dont drive!

  • it’s not uncommon for vans to get broken into

Why FTFY? Did i not say those exact words?

  • without the rest of the sentence.

vans just get broken into a lot.

  • Talking of vans, I got a response from the Camper place:

    Hi Dammit,

Many thanks for letting us know.
If you change your mind at any point, please advise and we’ll do what we can to secure a van as we have a good stock of pre-ordered vans scheduled for 2022.

Again – apologies that we’re unable to operate to our normal lead times currently.
To give you some idea of what the VW factory are running at due to COVID, vans ordered today will not be physical stock in the UK until 2023.
